Bug Description
Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
using feisty fawn - during recent update of packages using update manager I received an error about gnome-power-manager being unconfigured, followed by an error in gnome-session due to dependency on gnome-power-
Following this, the panel "Quit" control would not longer work as normal, instead of presenting a window of options (log off, shut down, restart, etc.) it would simply logout and return to the login screen. Shut down required selecting that option from the options list. In general system performance seemed slightly sluggish especially during gnome loading.
I then did the following using information from similar problems reported for edgy/dapper
sudo /etc/init.d/acpid stop
sudo apt-get update
This resulting error gave indications that the file /usr/share/
<locale name="en_GB"6
I changed this to
<locale name="en_GB">
and saved the file. Re-ran "sudo apt-get update" which ran successfully. After rebooting the functionality of the Quit button in panel has returned.

Interesting, I've just been hunting and haven't managed to find the equivalent error or where it might have come from yet.
What version of g-p-m did this occur with?
dpkg -l | awk '/gnome- power-manager/ {print $2,$3}'
Could you also attach the schema file that you have now (or possibly the original is that is still saved as 'gnome- power-manager. schemas~ ').
