An error occurred while writing the changes to the storage devices.
The resize operation has been aborted."

Steps:

1. Download image: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/214/builds/15996/downloads
2. Verify MD5 checksum
3. Burn image to CD
4. Verify CD
5. Begin install and try to resize

Tried on two different media.

Wrong partman sorry. I will take a bit to get the right one back. The one I uploaded was from the wrong machine.

What type of partition are you trying to resize? HTFS, Ext4, etc.

Lars Noodén (larsnooden) wrote :

It should be EXT4 only. I wipe the HD the first time by installing to the entire disk, for the one test case, then later I go and try to do the other test case which is to resize the existing install:

I've just done this with the latest Ubuntu Alternate ISO and didn't have a problem. My partition setup was:

Apple partition table
Apple boot partition
Ext 4
swap

I split the ext4 50%. All was well.

Using the image from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily/current/ and these instructions http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/AlternateResize Everything appears to work OK on the automatic/50% resize.

The daily/current and 20120423.1 are the same image:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily/20120423.1/MD5SUMS
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/daily/current/MD5SUMS

Yesterday, I could get the error each time on the one machine but not on the other. Today, perhaps after the equipment has cooled down or something, I am able to resize during the installation.
