Nautilus freezes after checking properties of PEF file

Ubuntu 12.04

I was trying to change default program to open PEF files. These are RAW format files for Pentax camera.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Right click PEF file
2. Select “Properties”
Nautilus freezes in this moment.

if i start Nautilus from the console, it writes "Open file return false" and the freezes.
Ubunu 12.04 fresh install. Nautilus 3.4.1

I can confirm this behavior for Nikon NEF format raw files as well. Did not happen in 11.10.

Me too with NEF.

But found still able to close parent window, then I lose Desktop icons till next nautilus restart.

Another machine, 'magically' came good. both machines fresh installs of 12.04.

I ran
strace nautilus

to see if there is more info, and the program worked flawlessy and allowed me to set the 'open with correctly' - no idea why this worked.

The same problem occurs with Canon .CR2 files.

Same problem with Nikon. NEF. Not all .NEF, just some file/directory.
Parent can be closed and NAutilus seems restart normally.
check files in Bug #1055820.

Clicking on properties of every nikon d7000's .nef freeze my nautilus (I haven't try with raw of other digital camera yet).

I have the same for NEF files, property window opens and then main nautilus window greys over. Nothing is clickable but can be 'force closed'
