Weather and Gmail Applets aren't working

Both applets seem to not be able to connect to the Internet.
I tried it on 2 machines one was an upgrade from 10.10 to 12.04 the other was a fresh install of 12.04. Otherwise docky is working fine.

When i ran the debug parameter on docky this was the only relevant line I could see:

All it displays is a -18C/0F with a question mark icon.

The 2.07 version on my main machine running 10.10 is working fine.

There is a similar bug reported few years back for the 2.08 version
