Failed to upgrade from Oneric to Precise: Could not early remove python-minimal

Bug Description
Trying to upgrade from Oneric to Precise Beta 2 using "update-manager -d" will not complete. Calculating changes and downloading packages works fine, but once the upgrade gets to the install phase it aborts with this error "Could not install the upgrades". Running update-manager again prompts me to do a partial upgrade, which fails with the exact same error. I am now stuck in limbo between the two releases. Looking at the terminal output the exact error seems to be "Could not early remove python-minimal". Here is all the output:
