Bug Description

Since perhaps one or two weeks ago, Kubuntu is interpreting the alt keys (Alt_L, Alt_R) as super keys (Super_L, Super_R). I don't believe that I changed anything deliberately. I have the original Happy Hacking PS/2 keyboard connected to my laptop with PS/2->USB converter.

My keyboard model is "Generic | Generic 101-key PC" and the layout is the "English (international AltGr dead keys)" variant of "English (US)". I have two changes from the default: "Advanced->Ctrl key position->Make Caps Lock an additional Ctrl" and "Advanced->Compose key position->Right Alt". This setup has worked for me for quite some time.

To mitigate this new behavior, I set "Advanced->Alt/Win key behavior->Left Alt is swapped with Left Win". This lets me work around the problem but it introduces a new one on my laptop's keyboard: the left alt key is now in the wrong place. I could live with that since I use the HHKB most of the time, however my setup used to work without that nuisance and I'd like it to return to that state. :-)

Switching the keyboard model to "Fujitsu | Happy Hacking Keyboard" or "Fujitsu | Happy Hacking Keyboard for Mac" does not correct the problem.

Even with the swapping of Left Alt and Left Win, I still have the problem that Right Alt is interpreted as Right Super. I have no way to use both the Left Alt and make diacritical marks such as umlauts with Right Alt as the compose key.

This seem to have changed recently. My Happy Hacking keyboard's Left Alt key is behaving as a proper Left Alt key again. I noticed it yesterday, when I plugged in the keyboard. I hadn't used the keyboard for a week. The problem must have been fixed by a Kubuntu update between December 22, 2012 and December 30, 2012.

I'm reopening this bug because it reappeared today. There was a Kubuntu update either yesterday or today. Now the Left Alt key on my Happy Hacking keyboard behaves as the left Super key.
