Bug Description
I downloaded and installed the 64bit version of the 3.0 Alpha1 today. I found one bug, it is when I choose to find the fastest mirror and there will be a error after it removes the uneeded live-only software and then the installer fails. If I don't choose to find the fastest mirror the installer completes successfully. It seems to deal with the find the fastest mirror option.

Yes, we knew about this bug and it's fixed (sorta of).
Debian changed the structure of the mirrors file we fetch, so it does not return anything and the mirrorselect application complains ;-)
We fixed, but as mirrorselect (part of semplice-utilities packge) is called inside the chroot (so inside the installed system) it can't be updated via installer OTA updates.
This means that the only way to fix that is to rebuild the live system (read as this: wait for 3.0 alpha 2).
By the way, we have ready an installer update which makes it not crash if the mirrorselect application crashes, will push it ASAP.
