Bug Description

I have installed SpiderOak online backup service. When installed, it was added to the systray-whitelist, so the SpiderOak application indicator appears in the panel system tray on the desktop menu bar. I am also running VMWare Player 4, and whenever I open VMWare player into full-screen mode, it causes the SpiderOak indicator to disappear from the systray. Even opening up VMWare to full-screen mode for just a second and immediately minimizing it again will cause the SpiderOak indicator to disappear. SpiderOak continues to run and perform backups in the background, so the application itself has not shut down -- the only problem is that the indicator is no longer visible in the systray. Sometimes after a while (many hours), it comes back (I do not know what triggers it to re-appear).

I don't think this is specific to SpiderOak, as I had the same problem with a TrueCrypt indicator as well (recently, though, the TrueCrypt indicator won't appear in the systray at all and instead appears on the desktop itself to the right of the Ubuntu button, which appears to be a separate bug).

I'm not sure if this is unique to VMWare in full-screen mode or if it happens with other applications that go into full-screen mode (it does not occur when putting the Chrome browser in full-screen mode).

This bug sometimes can be reproduced on Ubuntu 12.10, but the application that causes systray indicators (Skype, Pidgin) to disappear is Virtual Box.
