Bug Description

Precise beta 2, current updates installed.

When I point the mouse to one of the prpgram icons in the launcher, Unity shows a tool tip displaying the name of the program. These tool tips flicker irregularly, when the pointer is near the right edge of the icon. Precisely, flickering occurs when the pointer is in between the coloured icon's right edge and the right edge of the launcher's background. Moreover, flickering disappears when (inside this horizontal region) the pointer is placed near the vertical edges of the icons.

Thank you for your bug report, does it happen all the time with any icon?

When a tool tip is displayed, it happens every time (even with the "dash home" and "workspaces" icons).

Interestingly, after playing around for a while, some icons do not display a tool tip any longer. The longer I play around, the fewer icons display the tool tip. If I hover with the pointer, nothing happens at all.

Looks as if something is breaking.

do you use unity2d or 3d? could you make do a small screencast of the issue using gtk-recordmydesktop or similar?

oh, you use 2d, ok, reassigning to it then (you opened the bug against "unity" which is the 3d version)

affects: unity (Ubuntu) → unity-2d (Ubuntu)

Sorry, my fault.
Anyway, I have made a recording using gtk-recordmydesktop. Thank you for pointing me to this tool, it works remarkably well!
