Bug Description

After upgrading to Precise, whenever I try to adjust a photo using the "Adjust the photo's color and tone" dialog, whenever I adjust one of the sliders or the white and black points on the histogram and then release the mouse button, the dialog window goes shooting to the lower-right corner of the screen, and if I move my mouse back to the upper-left, the window moves back into the screen as if I'm dragging it, but the hand icon representing the pointer is way off to the upper-left of the dialog window, and I have to push the mouse button once more to get it to release the adjust photo dialog window. Then I have to go drag it into a suitable position. If I attempt to make another adjustment, as soon as I release the mouse button this all happens again.

This happens both on a new install on my desktop with a USB mouse and an upgrade on my laptop whether I'm using the trackpad or external USB mouse. It is not random but happens consistently.

I should add that after I make an adjustment and the adjustment is applied to the photo, the screen becomes more transparent as if unfocused. If I move the mouse at this point, the dialog window shoots off to the lower-right. If I click the window to focus, it remains stationary.

I'm using XFCE/Xubuntu by the way, not compiz/Unity.

Thanks for the bug report. We've never seen any of these behaviors at Yorba (where Shotwell is developed), so I strongly suspect these are releated to XFCE/Xubuntu. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to debug XFCE-specific problems, so you may want to ask the XFCE or Xubuntu developers for help. We'd consider taking a patch if it turns out there's some way to work around this in Shotwell.

I'm experiencing something similar with any kind of window but mostly when using a file browser in XFCE/Xubuntu using 12.04. I'll open the natilus window then work in some other window and when I come back to the nautilus window by clicking on it the window goes to the lower right corner of the screen with the mouse pointer representing a hand.

I should add I'm using xubuntu in a virtual machine and only noticed the above issue after upgrading from 11.10 to 12.04
