Bug Description

On Ubuntu 12.04 Final Beta will all updates installed the LUKS password is visible during boot for disk mounted at boot-time. The boot screen is disarranged and the last char entered is printed in clear. When skipping the mounting and restarting service cryptdisk after login in on a console the password is hidden like it should be.

By the way - I rebooted and could reproduce the problem. Installed packages:

$ dpkg -l | grep cryptset
ii cryptsetup 2:1.4.1-2ubuntu4 disk encryption support - startup scripts
ii cryptsetup-bin 2:1.4.1-2ubuntu4 disk encryption support - command line tools
ii libcryptsetup4 2:1.4.1-2ubuntu4 disk encryption support - shared library

After removing some packages listed for removal in aptitude and rebooting the error is gone. All I had done was

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

so I probably forgot to remove these packages which caused the error.

Still strange that something like that can happen... So please decide if this is a problem that needs to be solved or if it's invalid.
