Monitor Doesn't Show up under system settings>display

I''m seeing my display as a laptop display which doesn't allow any configuration. Screenshot attached.

I'm running 12.04 and everything appears to run ok on this wubi installation on top of Windows Vista, but I'm unable to get the monitor detected accurately.

that's because the nvidia driver doesn't support randr-1.2, you need to use nvidia-settings.
