Bug Description

After adding an application to the Launcher via drag-and-drop of its icon from the Dash, the application’s icon is not displayed in the Launcher. It is possible to start the application with a left-click; a right-click also shows the application’s unity-menu, though the application’s name is not shown in that menu.

How to reproduce:
1. Open the Dash
2. Drag an application to the Launcher

On my system this bug only affects a few applications like the USC and Evince. Also after I tried to add the application to the Launcher with the described way the application’s icon is also not shown in the Launcher after I started the application regularly from the Dash.

How to reproduce:
1. Do step one and two from above with an application that is affected by the bug.
2. Remove the application from the Launcher
3. Start the application

Thank you for reporting this bug. I am however not able to reproduce the bug on my system. Can you confirm if you still experience this issue while running Unity 5.10 (only) without the LP-PPA-ojno-unity-minimize-on-click? This way we can close in on where the problem originates.

I can confirm that this bug also affects another system of me without the LP-PPA-ojno-unity-minimize-on-click. Curiously this bug only appears sometimes and only with a few applications (see attached screencast taken on a system running Unity 5.10.0-0ubuntu3).

Henrik, thank you for providing the screencast, much clear now what you are experiencing. This bug is similar to bug #772063. Can you have a look at it? I think this bug is not a duplicate, but the problem is very similar to the one you are experiencing. I'll enquire about this to the developers.

That's not a new issue, I had it before Oneiric already, confirming though

The problem I have is not the actual bug that is described in bug #772063 [https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/772063] , but the one described in comment #21 and its attached screenshot [https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/772063/comments/21].
