Which Java package and version do you have installed?
Which video player and version do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions and themes do you have installed?

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I tried to reproduce the bug but couldn`t I reinstalled Mplayer and its codecs, now I can watch streams from firefox (couldn`t before) thus not having to copy the web adress and past it at VLC, I have installed gdb on firefox but no crashes, the stream was a live one
http://80.84.129.169/telesurdsl (wich I still not being able to record the sound at all, but I`ll find out)

VLC version:
VLC media player 0.8.6 (wxWidgets interface)

Java version
1.5.011-1ubuntu1

Firefox add-on (only default theme)
