I've been encountering this error too.

Running `rhythmbox -d` produces a fair bit of log output, but definitely shows some suspicious goings on.

In the attached log I was listening to "Absolute Radio 90s". The track ended at 22:27:11, and playback paused (sound stopped) for a couple of seconds. At 22:27:14 playback resumed, but only lasted a couple of seconds, stopping at 22:27:16. Playback never resumed after that point - at least, not that I could hear, although the log suggests otherwise.

To resume playback, I had to manually re-select the station.

I have the same problem as described by David. Rhythmbox stops after having played the first song on the "Absolute Radio 90s" radio. I start the radio again (double click) and it will play for a few more minutes after which it stops again. This time I can't start the radio again and I'll receive errors like: "Playback Error Service Unavailable".

I also encounter the following once the radio stops. It first says "Searching for multimedia plugins" and then stops with an error.

It appears to be a malformed playlist. Manually downloading the playlist, editing it, and adding it again to Rhythmbox seems to create a new, workable Absolute Classic Rock station. Details: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1043039

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Good idea Walter :). I have checked but I'm inconclusive. The Absolute radio stations changed their policy and are not streaming to my country anymore (I assume anything outside the UK), so I can't reproduce the problem. I did tried another radio station and this went just fine. I guess the problem was due to the malformed playlist as suggested by Mike in comment #8. Therefor I close this bug.

sicco, thanks for checking. There was indeed a fix in this release related to radio streaming, not exactly on playlist, but it solved a lot of radio streaming problems.
