Bug Description

Every time i boot up 12.04-beta-2 Desktop LiveCD and start preparing for install, the gnome-setting-daemon crashes on me.

This bug is similar to bugs #965487, #960246 and #968252. The first one looks similar to this bug, but has a different SIGSEGV location. The last two match this bug on SIGSEGV location, but were closed as invalid prior to my report and reopening was discouraged in the discussion.

Please check if solved by update to g-s-d 3.4.0: when at choice of "Try Ubuntu"/"Install Ubuntu", (connect net and) switch to tty1 (ctrl-alt-F1) and 'sudo apt-get install aptitude' then use 'sudo aptitude'. (Or it's possible with ftp and dpkg if, like me, you also have errors with apt-get.) (Can also get http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/pool/main/g/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon-dbgsym_3.4.0-0ubuntu3_amd64.ddeb via curl). That hasn't crashed for me yet, so (touch wood!) looks like 3.4.0 will work for Precise.
