Bug Description

I am not using the overlay scrollbars. They are disabled.

The scrollbars on some windows (Nautilus, Update Manager, Image Viewer, USC, palimpsest, etc) seem to have very little contrast. In Firefox the scrollbar track (aka trough) has a dark line on both sides. The slider fits inside the track. In nautilus (et al) the slider appears to be too large, and not outlined. The effect is a very hard to find slider.

I've attached a screenshot showing the comparison between Nautilus and Firefox.

Ambiance has the same issue and this is with 12.04

Thank you for your bug report. The issue here is that light-themes is not rendering a border around the grippy of the scrollbar in the GTK+ 3 version (so apps like Nautilus show the issue and GTK+ 2 apps like Firefox does not). This is a known issue and it's being tracked as bug #950778, so I'm marking this report as a duplicate.
