Bug Description

Precise 3D 32-Bit up-to-date

Selecting indicator items can be vexing if the targeted menu entry is not exactly vertical under the indicator icon – see attached media files.

Especially the first menu entry 'System Settings' of the power indicator and the volume control of the sound indicator are cumbersome to target.

possible solutions:
1. Add a delay of ~0.25 sec before switching to an adjacent indicator when an indicator menu is already opened.
2. Increase the horizontal size of the indicator icons.
3. Downsize the power indicator horizontal size (won't help for the sound indicator).

Indicators are a central part of Unity/Ubuntu. Targeting a menu entry should be easy and fun – sadly this isn't always the case.

The reported UX bug results in always checking twice how to access the targeted indicator menu entry – it feels not light, easy – you have to care of how you move your mouse, you can't just move the mouse in the direction you want it, you have to think about which path leads your mouse to the desired menu entry. This is unprecise, not what indicators should be, it feels heavy, wrong.

I would love to see solution 1. implemented and if it doesn't work as expected because menus switch to slow (feel nonreactive...) or it's too late for precise, then I would love to see solution 3. implemented.

Thank you reporting this bug report to make ubuntu better. However this requires design input from the Ayatana team. Hence I marking it incomplete. This will still be looked into (so ignore the incomplete status).
