Bug Description

Per feedback from from this bug

---> http://kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=2541

Please update the MLT packages to latest stable release in the ubuntu 12.04 repo so that related programs aren't broken.

In Kdenlive, rendering is broken and there is very buggy behavior in general like random frame scrambles and wrong thumbnails for video strips. Rendering profiles are showing as not supported that are actually supported by the installed ffmpeg packages.

Openshot has also exhibited some strange behavior because of this, although i don't use it much so i haven't tested much further.

I think you need to log this as a sync-request bug against Ubuntu.

Anyone has an idea how I can still use Openshot although this bug is still open?

Even a small amount of research would reveal this PPA:

Yeah man.. which last I checked didnt have an entry for Precise 12.04.
If there is one, please share on how to get it to work, i even tried typing precise just to see... with no success.
I wanted to try and install mlt 0.7.8 from source,
but I'm blocked behind a proxy so not even sure what steps to take or if it will work.

Anyone care to try and see / share what happens.. otherwise, I'll try to get to it next week.

Well, tried lots of things...
dowloading precompiled debs from launchpad.. going through dependency heck, etc.

Today found this svn now has entry for 12.04 Precise

https://launchpad.net/~sunab/+archive/kdenlive-svn

added and installed.. rendering worked.
but cannot have openshot installed at the same time.

So I have 2 options.
1 - Install only kdenlive from the SVN above.

2- use kdenlive from standard repos to edit.. then IMPORT my kdenlive project file (myvideo.kdenlive) into openshot and use openshot to render it.

On Ubuntu, and it is for all version of this one, only the version of Kdenlive is working great with Openshot. Here, you can use the both together.
If you want to use the last version of Kdenlive, you must only use it alone or with AV Linux (the next 6.0 will be out in June) and you'll have too Cinellera and Lives.

Just installed 0.9.0(Latest), then 0.7.8(refferenced) from source and neither of them worked. Sorry for ressing a thread from 2 years ago, but it's still a major issue.
