Bug Description

I'm playing back a long playlist (~1000 titles) in Rhythmbox, made up of mp3's and some ogg files. Every now and then, playback stops, and nothing happens, until I manually make Rhythmbox jump to the next track, then everything returns to normal.

It happens once in about every ~15-30 minutes (~4-10 songs).

Crossfading is disabled.

The playing is mostly stopped at the very beginning of a new song. I noticed a single occasion, when it stopped after playing 15-20 secs of a song.

It also seems that after a long time (more than 10 minutes) of being practically silent and uninterrupted, the paused song may start playing again.

Right now I'm trying to run Rhythmbox in debug mode, so I can catch some logs with the next bug occurence, stay tuned.

Clipped output of "rhythmbox -d 2> rhythmbox_debug.txt"

At about 12:55:51, the last correctly played title is seen for a couple of lines, and then the problematic title should start, but instead it stays halted at 0:00.

At 13:12:03 something interesting also happens, as Rhythmbox jumps to the next title.

Think I've hit this as well, under similar circumstances. In my case I tracked it down to when rhythmbox has finished an OGG file and the next file in the queue is MP3. I can reliably reproduce it by advancing to the end of the OGG, letting it proceed on to the MP3, and it fails each time.

(Or perhaps it's vice versa, MP3->OGG)

See also bug 921071 which could be related.

Yes it's MP3->OGG.

Based on the symptoms, it's seems that this is a duplicate of bug #921071.

I'm playing a long playlist (>1000 songs), but all mine are flacs, and I'm still getting the occasional stopping playback.

I'm experiencing this bug. My library is made up of flac and mp3 files (no ogg). Playback will sometimes resume after several minutes but it will skip to various points of several songs until it settles and enters proper playback.
