Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-12-generic

I have repeated mouse hangs on my Toshiba S3.
The laptop has the following input devices:

[ 81.584000] input: DualPoint Stick as /class/input/input3
[ 81.616000] input: AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint TouchPad as /class/input/input4

When the system hangs I get from dmesg:

[ 3802.368000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[ 3802.372000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.
[ 3802.504000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[ 3802.512000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.
[ 3802.516000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
[ 3802.536000] psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.

It seems a > 2.6.18 kernel problem because I have the same behaviour on another distro running 2.6.19

Stefano

Kind of sounds like an interrupt sharing problem, which is no-no for an ISA device. Please attach (do not past inline) the output of these commands:

cat /proc/interrupts > interrupts.txt
sudo dmidecode > dmidecode.txt
lspci -vv > lspcivv.txt
lspci -vvn > lspcivvn.txt
dmesg >dmesg.txt
