Skype stops working, requires reinstall in Precise

Not sure what happened, but Skype stopped working at some point in Precise and it required a reinstall to get working. I reinstalled by apt-get install skype and it worked just fine.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Confusingly, the apt history only shows the most recent install of skype to fix this problem; and it shows as an 'install', so the skype package was *not* installed prior to this - so I don't know where /usr/bin/skype came from.

I do see that a previous apt run failed with a package configuration problem though. Jason, could you attach /var/log/apt/term.log as well?
