I reinstall the ancient xorg.conf file and it works.

Could you please recheck it with current Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10. If you don't want to install it please try it with the LiveCD. If the problem still appears post more information like the output from lspci, the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log after crash.
