gthumb 3.0 is now in the Ubuntu "Quantal Quetzal" archives and will be available when Ubuntu 12.10 is released in October.

Latest Gthumb release for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS is Gthumb 3.1.4 - newer versions reguires glib-2.0 >= 2.34.0

bug #1201073 is also about updating gthumb package to the latest gthumb to 3.2.x version, maybe we could have separate bugs - one about updating gthumb package to the latest upstream version and this bug could be for updating tho the latest version, which can work on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS release?
