Bug Description
After a fresh install of Linux Mint 12 (Lisa) I've experinced the following: ubuntu mainline kernel version 3.3 [http://
The bug: the system boots but on lighdm logon screen I get no response for trackpoint or touchpad device. If I want to access console with ALT+FX keys, the system freeze, no response from that point to any keystroke. Same freeze after password is correctly entered: lightdm disappears until a point but nothing - including the wallpaper - show up.
The system needs hard reboot when it reaches one of the freeze points.
I was unable to detect anything reasonable out of dmesg or syslog, but after lots of clean install testings I'm truly sure the tp-smapi-dkms package is the cause.
System details:
HW: ThinkPad T400, P8700, 4GB RAM , Intel X4500HD no special hardware
SW: Mint 12 Julia, no ppa, no hacks, solely new kernel + tp-smapi-dkms
Added modules in /etc/modules:
tp_smapi
thinkpad_ec
Please tell me what kind of information I can get to help solving this.
petermolnar, can you update if you still have this issue or not? For help with this, consider posting a support request on http:// forums. linuxmint. com/ (as this doesn't sound like a software bug).
And as not for community. linuxmint. com, moved to linuxmint.
