feedback:

have purged then reinstalled *compiz*
then reconfigured nautilus and log out/in

reopenning nautilus on the next session, the greyed out menu item is gone and i can copy/paste again.
So marking it as fixed.

but copy/paste should work without reinstalling compiz, reconfigur nautilus and log out/in

will it work/be fixed until the final release of 12.04?

melodram, this bug seems to be a duplicate of #882307, which is related to appmenu-gtk, so session logout is required.
Could somebody affected check that this is a duplicate?

no it doesn't, reininstalling things on linux doesn't put you in a different situation, that bug just doesn't happen and the time and restarting nautilus or your session will workaorund it

This is a serious downer for Ubuntu 12.04 users. Precise seems to be not so precise after all.
