Bug Description

After updating today I am no longer able to login to the desktop with Unity3D (2D does work). The lightdm window sometimes dissapears and I am presented the the normal desktop wallpaper and in some cases even a mouse cursor and the files that are on my desktop. No evidence of the Unity launcher or top panel at all.

Mine is segfaulting too. Launching it in the terminal didn't work at first, it said ~/.cache/unity/bgcachefile was missing.

Creating that file gets a bit farther but segfaults right away.

(Not sure if this is xorg's problem or unity itself since both sets of packages were updated.)

I asked him to sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libgl1-mesa-dri_8.0.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb /var/cache/apt/archives/libgl1-mesa-glx_8.0.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb /var/cache/apt/archives/libglapi-mesa_8.0.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb /var/cache/apt/archives/libglu1-mesa_8.0.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb to downgrade his mesa and it didn't make anything better, thats the only possible X related update that could have caused this (and I didn't see evidence of the new assertion being hit in the lightdm logs) so reassigning to unity for now.

affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → unity (Ubuntu)
