laptop no longer suspends when lid closed

Bug Description

My Dell Latitude E6400 no longer suspends when the lid is closed.

The current power settings for when the lid is closed is to suspend. However, when closing the lid, the screen just goes blank and it does not suspend.

This has worked in previous versions of Ubuntu.
