Thank you for reporting this bug and making Ubuntu better.

This looks very similar to bug 126108 but the UbiquitySyslog is not quite the same.

Were you able to install? What did you do to get around this bug?

Thanks!

Yes, Greg, I was able to install. This is the workaround:

Instead of launching ubiquity via the desktop icon, I opened a Gnome terminal, and launched ubiquity from the command line, passing the "--desktop --no-migration-assistant" options.

It worked perfectly, then.

Angel,

This looks like either a bad CD burn or a dying CD-ROM drive (ATAPI 40X CD-ROM CD-R/RW drive). Are you able to test again with a different CD, preferably using Ubuntu 7.10? I also noticed that you have both DVD-ROM and CD-ROM drives in the computer. Do you experience different results with the DVD drive?

Thanks!

Evan, I don't think it was a bad CD burn. I did a CD check with the boot menu option, and the test was successful.
I burned the iso on a rewritable CD (I erased it, so I cannot test it anymore).

I upgraded from feisty to gutsy using "update-manager", so I did not test the 7.10 version.
If you think it could be useful, I could download the 7.10 iso and test it...

Evan, I forgot to say that I don't think it's the drive's fault, either.
Since the bug was reported (2007-03-25), I've been using the drive with no problem at all.

Since this bug is no longer reproducible and thus can not be tested I am closing this bug.

Please feel free to open any other bugs you find.

Thanks.
