Bug Description

When trying to use the HUD with LibreOffice it does not find the Menuentrys of LibreOffice. I'm using the german localized version of libreoffice and like to use the HUD with it because especially in programms with large menus like libreoffice it comes in extremly handy.

If the HUD does not work with it until the release the feature feels kind of incomplete and not as useful as it should.

It is reproduceble and does not work in any form when running libreoffice no matter which part of libreoffice i use.

Maybe this could be solved with some Extension in Libreoffice which is currently missing or libreoffice in ubuntu does not have the depencys to install it if it allready exists in the ubuntu repository.

HUD works if you install 'lo-menubar'. Would love if Precise would ship with Unity like LO menubar.

Did not know that. I upgraded from 11.10 on the system the bug occured. So it is definately a depency issue with the packages if its not installed automatically.

The same as in #4
Current distro upgraded from 11.10 (32-bit)
Installed lo-menubar and it is working now.
Dependency issue in upgrade.

It is just a shame the effort was not made to integrate LO menu bar by default in Precise. The lack of consistency is truly shocking. For over a year it has been promised this would be integrated and low and behold nothing. With an emphasis placed on 'precise' for 12.04 I would have expected that an application such as LO with such a reputation would have been shown some love. Yet it looks completely out of place in Ubuntu. It does not respect the global menu, print dialogues and now the HUD. Come on Canonical give us what you promised over a year a go and fix the global menu integration in Libre Office.

same here. I hate to disappoint users that are thinking about switching to linux with "hey you need to install this and this because they forgot about the depencies" -.-

Installing lo-menubar gives partial integration with LibreOffice component apps (like Writer, Calc, etc). However, launching the LibreOffice app itself (which sort of binds all the components together) still doesn't respect lo-menubar settings and still no HUD integration.

Would've been nice to do proper integration of LibreOffice by having it use appmenu, though taking a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopExperienceTeam/ApplicationMenu reveals that it's not going to be trivial engineering to do such.

This isnt't a dependency issue and the developers haven't forgotten to alter the dependencies. Lo-menubar won't be installed by default until until bug 725250 is fixed which is about moving lo-menubar to the -main repository from -universe. That move won't happen until bug 739184 and bug 760879 are fixed. Bug 754562 might be a blocker too.

Last time I tried lo-menubar on 11.10 (before it got axed) LO got rather crashy and also weird glitches happened. After it got axed, it never crashed or glitched anymore ever again.

Thanks a lot for reporting this, however the inclusion of new packages on the CD is outwith the scope of the papercuts project.

the issue is also not an appmenu one, as written in previous comments the libreoffice menus integration needs to be installed and work is still needed on this side to have it reliable enough to be installed by default

I am currently working on quantal and the HUDis still not working in LO.
Lo-menubar is shown as "transitional dummy package" so I figure the HUD should work in theory?

on rarig, HUD still doesnt work for LO. Also the lo-menubar cant't be installed:

An important correction: If the application is run from the dash, the HUD works properly, but if a file is opened from nautilus - the HUD doesnt work in this case
