Bug Description

Up to to 3/7/12, I used gftp (version is 2.0.19) at least weekly to transfer files from my desktop (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) to my hosted web site. One week later (3/14), when I tried to transfer the same file I update weekly, gftp connected to the site as usual, displayed the default directory, and waited for a transfer request. I highlighted the local file I wanted to transfer, and pressed the transfer (">" button. The log display area showed:

Filename Progress
- (icon) local filesystem Waiting ...
        |_ index.html Waiting ...

The program sits there waiting forever, but is not hung. I can highlight the transfer and stop it, disconnect from the server, and shut down gftp with no problem. At no time does gftp crash, and I can start another -- never completing -- transfer. It does not seem to be file-dependent at all.

I installed FileZilla and it has no problem transferring the file, nor does Nautilus, using the "Connect to server" option and a copy - paste into folder operation.

I update my system whenever Update Manager notifies me of changes, and I know I have updated several packages between the time gftp last worked and the failure, but I don't know if gftp was one of the updates.

That version is no more supported; and no expecting backport as it only concern 'security' problem.
