It is said to be a duplicate of bug #945816, however the other bug mention changing the HUD shortcut. I'm affected by this bug and I haven't changed any shortcut; the only customization I have so far is switching to the 2D unity from the login screen.

It was working a few days ago - today I installed the latest updates and I cannot use alt-tab anymore.

FWIW it seems to work in Unity 3D but not in Unity 2D.

I am using ubuntu 12.04. I did not touch anything in configuration. The Alt+Tab key suddenly stopped functionning and I am not able to recover it, even after a reboot.

I disagree that this is a duplicate of #945816. I haven't changed my HUD shortcut and alt-tab still behaves as described in this report, and not as expected (switching windows).

#945816 is marked as fixed in compiz 1:0.9.7.2-0ubuntu1 but I have 1:0.9.7.6-0ubuntu1 and this bug (alt-tab not working, hud key is not re-assigned) is still affecting me.

do you use unity2d or unity3d? could you add your .xsession-errors to the bug?

oh ok, if you use unity-2d that might explain why it doesn't happen here, reassigning to 2d

From the other comments, it appears that this isn't a duplicate. I updated to 12.04 and now alt-tab switching doesn't work - I'm using gnome instead of unity though.

Confirmed. alt+tab does not work after update to 12.04. I'm using Gnome Classic.
