Bug Description

The overlay scrollbar will work properly the first time you try to use it, but if you try to hover over the scrollbar any time after that first initial time, the scrollbar will dissapear as soon as you try to click on it. I have tried it in many different applications that use the overlay scrollbar, and they all perform this same way.

I am experiencing the very same issue. I am a bit surprised that this bug does not receive more attention, so it might be triggered only in certain environments.

Maybe it’s a graphics issue? Which graphics card and driver are you using?

These are my card and driver:

$ lspci | grep VGA
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880M [Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series]

$ glxinfo | grep renderer

I am running the opensourced rs880 Radeon graphics driver on an HD 4200 series. Also, the computer I run at work has an nividia 8600 graphics card with proprietary drivers that does not seem to have the problem.

The HD 4200 series seems to have a lot of issues with this release of Ubuntu, which is a shame because it is a very popular card.

4200 series was fine with Oneiric certified systems, LTS shouldn't break the consense.

Workaround, disable overlay-scrollbar in dconf since it's useless in this state.

Seems like this issue is localized to people with the 4200 series. This isn't the only issue that I've had localized to this card as well.

I don't think it only affects radeon users as I have an integrated Intel and it happens to me too.
