xpra failing to attach display

Running on Precise:

$ xpra attach ssh:username@server:2 fails giving the following error:

** WARNING **: Trying to register gtype 'GSocketMsgFlags' as flags when in fact it is of type 'GEnum'
connection lost: empty marker in read queue
Connection lost

I'm using a VPN connection and I can successfully ssh into that server.
