Bug Description
Yesterday's attempt at upgrading from lucid to precise failed with a byte compiling error when configuring python.
Setting up libdb5.1 (5.1.25-11build1) ...
Setting up python2.7 (2.7.3~
Setting up python (2.7.2-9ubuntu2) ...
Sorry: TypeError: ('compile() expected string without null bytes',)
dpkg: error processing python (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 101
This appears to be a regression in behavior vs. previous upgrade tests, probably related to the new python2.7 version that's been uploaded.

<slangasek> doko: so actually, whatever causes it seems to not be included in either the default desktop or server installs - maybe ok to downgrade to 'high' instead of 'critical'
<doko> slangasek, I'll look first to improve the diagnostics for beta2
... and we don't know if another python package did cause the update.
