Bug Description

Georgewilliams has a font named "Monospace." This overrides the monospace virtual font that is used in a number of places in the desktop, including in gnome-terminal, gedit, and firefox. Worse, the georgewilliams monospace font is somewhat ugly (it doesn't seem to work well with subpixel font rendering, leaving very colorful boundaries and hard-to-read text).

Is it possible to rename the font so that this doesn't happen? I'd like to have the ttf-georgewilliams fonts installed, but I don't want to have to change all the font settings in my apps to use DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono.

Also confirming.

Finally, been searching to find out what made my terminal unusable for so long, turns out it was this bug. CCing myself. Well done for figuring out which font pack caused the issue Michael because I wasn't looking forward to wading through them all.

Confirming on Gutsy final. Setting the global font back to something else in gnome-appearance-properties fixes gnome-terminal, but not the embedded terminal in package installers like synaptic.

Same problem here. Removed ttf-georgewilliams and the ugly monospace font went away. That font invaded not just my terminal, but Firefox and Thunderbird as well.
