Bug Description
Ubuntu 11.10, with all updates as of 2012-03-10
compiz 1:0.9.6+
Open an application in a workspace. Open a different application in a different workspace. Minimize both applications. Note that the last-minimized application still has the focus, as indicated by the contents of the title/menu bar and the presence of a focus indicator next to its launcher icon. Minimizing the last visible window should have given the focus to the desktop.
Using either the keyboard or the workspace switcher, alternate between the two workspaces. Note that the title bar contents and the focus indicator toggle between the two open (but minimized) applications. No minimized window should receive the focus.
Click on the launcher icon with the focus indicator, and nothing happens -- the window won't restore because it already has the focus. To restore it, you must first click on the desktop or on some other icon before clicking on the one you really want.
When all windows are minimized, the desktop should have the focus, and the desktop should not lose the focus until a new application is started or until a minimized window is restored. Switching workspaces should *not* take the focus from the desktop.
Open a second application in the current workspace, minimize both applications, and click on the desktop so that neither of the applications has the focus. Right-click one application's launcher icon and select "Quit." The application does indeed quit, but the other window in the selected workspace gets the focus and is thereby restored. This should not happen--the desktop should retain the focus and nothing else should happen.
You will be pleased to know that this issue has been resolved in Ubuntu 12.04.
