Bug Description

Upon access to 'Users and Groups' I had minimized it to system tray to mount the web to find more information on sudo. I had forgotten I had minimized the previous program and was successful (?) in opening a second copy of 'Users and Groups' I made changes in that and went to reboot. Poor Ubuntu could not figure out what to do! Perhaps some safeguard should be implemented to prevent this from happening again. I had to access Partition Magic (under WXP ) to format the Ubuntu partition and reinstall Ubuntu. I take full responsibility for my stupidity, but this was no fun day at the beach. I tried to use FF alpha to 'fix a broken system' utility but it stopped at 93% looking for a network card ( I have a Belkin USB Chipset ZD1211). It seems to me upon not discovering of the network card the process would move on with the information gathered thusfar, but it just hung there for an hour (I give it a chance) The recovery console was of no use in that I am not a Linux pro and have no idea what was expected of me as far as input. Perhaps a 'user friendly' interface is needed. Thank you for your time in this matter.
