Hi Pierre,

In what way are things crashing? Do you have any crash reports in /var/crash? Are there any messages in /var/log/syslog that might give an indication what's going wrong?

Thanks!

What's written on the back screen? Can you take a picture of the text on the back screen when it's crashed?

I don't have anything in /var/crash and did not find anything related to it in /var/log/syslog.
It crashes suddenly when I am not doing anything in particular and outputs something about kthread.
I can try to note it down the next time it happens.

Here are pictures of two different crashes.

I can't be sure, but it seems to happen only when I am using Firefox or Thunderbird. (It did not crash for a few hours last night, while I was only using Pidgin, VLC and Rhythmbox; it crashes every ten minutes now that I am trying to read my e-mails and check my RSS feeds.)
Last time, it happened when I clicked the "Sync now" menu item in Firefox.

Pierre, what you're seeing are kernel oops, adding a linux kernel task to the bug report. Can you confirm that you don't see these oops if you downgrade libc to the earlier version? e.g.

  apt-get install libc6=2.13-20ubuntu5 libc-bin=2.13-20ubuntu5

(You may need to add additonal packages to your apt-get install line, similarly formatted)

I haven't had any oops since I downgraded libc two days ago so I think I can confirm it is caused by libc.
