Bug Description
When trying to play a DirectX game[0] via Wine (1.4~rc6, default setup), I get GPU hangs that freeze X. As a non-gamer I don't know if there are other games that produce those hangs, or if it's a DirectX/Wine thing.
dmesg shows the following:
[drm:i915_
[drm] capturing error event; look for more information in /debug/
[drm:i915_
I'm attaching the error state file.
In an IRC conversation I vaguely remember it was suggested, that this maybe only affects 'K' models of Intel Sandybridge CPUs (I'm using an i5-2500K).
Initially, this produced hangs with the number 0x7b009004 (bug 899159), but those have recently been fixed (upstream bug https:/
I tried the xorg-edgers PPA (mesa 8.0.1+git201203

[drm] capturing error event; look for more information in /debug/
[drm:i915_
I'm attaching the error state file.
In an IRC conversation I vaguely remember it was suggested, that this maybe only affects 'K' models of Intel Sandybridge CPUs (I'm using an i5-2500K).
Initially, this produced hangs with the number 0x7b009004, but those have recently been fixed (bug 42538).
This happens on Ubuntu 12.04 Beta+ with mesa from the xorg-edgers PPA (8.0.1+ git20120301+ 8.0.a3080987) .
Setting severity to critical as that's what seems to be used for GPU hangs.
[0]: Free game "Ski Challenge 2012" http:// www.skichalleng e.at/en/ download (~170MB), the config I use (Setup → Manual): http:// img.xrmb2. net/images/ 974661. png - it hangs right when starting a training run.
