Could you attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (after the crash copy it somewhere so it isn't overwritten) and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

You don't use an official kernel, which means you don't use the official builds of linux-restricted-modules either, right? Feisty has 2.6.20-12-generic now.

hi,

well, i installed feisty from scratch, formatting the whole drive. since then, all i did was add applications through synaptic package manager. as of this, i have no idea why i don't have the right kernel version from doing standard basic stuff. could this be a bug?

also, the only thing i did that could have changed the kernel is installing xen (again from apt-get). but then, why would xen use an older kernel?

and, if xen is the reason why i have an older kernel, this screen save bug happened to me even after i have freshly installed the OS and begun setting my preferences. That was way before i did any important updates, including xen. i report it today, but i have been having it since the beginning.

in any case, i will be installing beta today, and we can see if it happens anymore.

thanks!

Hi Jean-Denis,

Have you still be experiencing this with the released version of Feisty?
