Bug Description
hello, i am a newbie to this, maybe that is why i got this problem...
i tried to install ubuntu 6.0.6 from a cd-rom. everything seemed to be swell in the installation process except in the end when the installer crashed with the following error message:
unable to install GRUB in /dev/boot
Executing 'grub-install /dev/boot' failed.
This is a fatal error.
-------
i am dual-booting having windows on my first hard drive, and ubuntu for the second one. though, i read on this page:
http://
that it would be wise to have the boot partition on the hd that contained windows, which in my case (also) is the first one. so i created a 50 MB /boot at the beginning of the hd. the site grub-w2k-HOWTO.html also states that i should NOT install grub in MBR, so when the ubuntu-installer wanted me to install to (hd0), i changed this to /dev/boot. well, in fact i wrote /boot, and then the installer changed this to /dev//boot, so i just wrote boot and the installer translated this to /dev/boot. i must say that i was a bit uncertain if this was correct, but thought to myself "what the heck, let's get it on!" well, maybe i shouldn't have?! ;-)
ok, here is a long bug report from the installer:

the "installer crashed" window also wanted me to attach the files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman, so i copied those onto a memory card, but on this page i have no alternative for attachment of files... maybe next page?!
ok, please tell me how to install grub to /boot with ubuntu installer, thank you!
ahh, here is the attachment option... =)
