Could you tell me what mozilla firefox extensions are installed on your
system ? What happens if you remove all of them before upgrading
mozilla-firefox package ?

No, I was just wondering if it could be a reason.
I guess the package doesn't even get installed at all.
Then could you try the following:

- download the .deb on your favourite mirror
- unpackit in a temporary directory with the following command:
    dpkg-deb -x mozilla-firefox_0.10.1+1.0PR-4_i386.deb /path/to/a/temporary/directory
- cd to the temporary directory
- set the following environment variables:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:/usr/lib
    export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=.
- run the following command:
    gdb ./firefox-bin
- in gdb, run the command:
    run -register
- and then please report the few lines gdb will give you until the
  segmentation fault.

Note: I'm not quite sure it properly works with MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=. ; if
it doesn't, use the full path name instead.

Thanks

Mike

Hi.

I'd like to add some more info about this bug. I've noticed that this
doesn't happen only with the new version, but also with older ones.

I installed mozilla-firefox-0.8-12 since the day in which it entered
testing and have kept until today, without upgrading to 0.9.3, becasue
the Spanish package wasn't there. That day, the installation went ok. I
can even add that I had to reinstall some time ago (1 month?) after
trying to install some localization archives. Well, the point is that
today I have had to install 0.9.3 from testing and it has been
impossible, because of this bug. And I have 0.9.3-5 in another system
(debian sid), so I know it can be installed. But now it is impossible.
Even downgrading to 0.8-12 is impossible.
So, what I think is that some package is buggy and, in some versions,
doesn't allow firefox to install.

I hope this can help

I've found a cause for this bug. After undoing prelinking, the
installation has gone fine again. I'm going to send a new bug against

I'm a bit puzzled by this. Certainly the prelink package doesn't
prelink the package as it gets installed? Ahhh, but it could be
it's borked on a prelinked library it depends on. I've been using
prelink for a while and I've never encountered this problem, but it
may be a subtle bug. Keep me posted on any progress.
