Bug Description

I am not sure how to reproduce it. But I found that the problem is predominant when I enable power related options in the mother board (DX58SO) like EIST and others. It seems some application loading or any task initaition causes this system restart, this application or task could be anything. Tha last time it happened when youtube video was going to load (Firefox 10). I have never got the problem when the system is idle.

Addtionally, this bug is valid of all non LTS Ubuntu Versions.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/947250/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I cannot find the affecting package. You can change the package as needed. Additionally, only hint is LTS versions shows stability to some extent wrt the problem. With Ubuntu 12.04 Beta1 , system restart has happened one time. It would be great if you could spend a little time finding the affecting package which in return affects power related stuffs in the mother board. From my experience , I think this problem is related to power related stuffs in the mother board.

Additionally, the problem occurs in following scenario everytime with non LTS versions.

1) Have an installation media(CD) for non LTS versions.
2) Boot the CD at startup for installation.
3) When the files starts to load (before showing the first installation page where you select language then keyboard)
4) In that period the restart happens.

Today, system crashed(restarted) 2 times.
1) Opening some site containing(java scripts) on firefox 10 browser.
2) Opening yahoo chess online (on flash player which contains javascripts as well) also caused system crash. This happened both on chrome and firefox.

I think javascript somehow caused xorg to fail.
Please look into it.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta1

Piyush Roy, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
