karaluh, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport . If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Created attachment 58049
Source Document

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create new Writer document from LibO start Center
2. Open attached "source.ods"
3. Select A1:D4
4. <control+C> for 'copy'
5. switch to WRITER document
6. Menu 'Edit -> Paste Special -> as RTF
Expected: Merged Cell A2:B2 shown similar to CALC
Actual: Merged cell sown with correct congents, but at it's right an
additional empty cell has been created.
7. At cursor position behind new WRITER table: >return>
8. Menu 'Edit -> Paste Special -> as HTML
Expected: Merged Cell A2:B2 shown similar to CALC
   Actual: as expected

For me the problem starts with Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI [(Build ID: 3b32204-7f92fce-2ba0a9f)]" (2011-09-03)

Works as expected with
"LibreOffice Portable 3.3.0 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4]" and with
"LibreOffice 3.4.5 German UI [Build ID: OOO340m1 (Build:502)]" parallel Server installation on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)
Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.4.5 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI
[(Build ID:d337f79-a24c961-2865670-9752b71-7f8fd43
 2fdd60d-fd28b6a-fd7bf20-aa369cb-28da3fb

 82ff335-599f7e9-bc6a545-1926fdf)]"
 82ff335-599f7e9-bc6a545-1926fdf

For copy - paste to DRAW that problem is already visible with LibO 3.3.0 and OOo 3.1.1

Works as expected with LO 3.5.3 rc0+ (LibreOffice 3.5.3rc0+ Version ID : b4b8f69-a73d29c-73cb0b8-f269e46-b01560f) under Ubuntu 11.10 x86_64.

Reproducible with master (LibreOffice 3.6.0alpha0+ Build ID: 08ba87c-49d3d39-e67b1bf-879ce36-638d9c). Will try with a more up-to-date build.

karaluh, this is:
- a clearcut upstream issue.
Resolving as Won't Fix in libreoffice (Ubuntu) and LibreOffice Packaging. This does not mean the issue will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

Works as expected at least since version 4.1.6. Tested under Ubuntu 14.04 x86-64
Verified in 4.1.6, 4.2.7.0.0+, 4.3.3.0.0+ and master updated yesterday.

Closing as WorksForMe because I do not know which commit fixed the problem.
Feel free to reopen if it not fixed for you.

Best regards. JBF
