Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release: 12.04

gnome-tweak-tool:
  Installed: 3.2.2-3
  Candidate: 3.2.2-3
  Version table:
 *** 3.2.2-3 0
        500 http://mirrors.gigenet.com/ubuntuarchive/ precise/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Shell themes were extracted to "~/.themes/" as well as copied to "/usr/share/themes/". Extracted GTK themes seem to show up under the GTK+ theme and WIndow theme drop-downs, however gnome-shell themes fail to appear despite "User Themes Extension" being on.

I second that. I'm running an up to date Precise, gnome-tweak-tool 3.2.2-3 is from Precise repos and gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme 3.2.0-2~webupd8~oneiric.

I just found these packages of gnome-shell-extensions-common and gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme, version 3.2.3. They solve the issue; after restarting the shell one is able to change themes again. So I imagine it's more a matter of having the right version of these packages available for Precise somewhere rather than hoping to get a fix.

Sadly the upstream on extensions.gnome.org supplies only a version compatible with the soon-to-be-released gnome-shell version 3.4, which will not reach Precise in any way but through backports.

Good find, my friend! That seems to have also fixed the issue for me. The shell themes drop-down displays correctly and the themes change just as they should.

Thank you.
