Bug Description
I don't know if it will help but I files Bug #945658 at the same time as this. I was trying to open and AVI file to watch a video. This happened with both the current version of Movie Player and the current version of VLC.

The issue was resolved when I removed the ATI driver. First I was using Post release version, I switch to the other, it didn't help. When I removed it, I could view the AVI file.
