The GED4GEM development for the country facts app has become mature enough to sync it up with the GEM Sandbox server.
This will require the country facts tables to be moved over to the GEM sandbox server.
The GEM sandbox server will need the same GeoServer configurations as the dev environment.
And the the GEM sandbox GeoNode will need to be modified to integrate the new application.

The GEM Sandbox needed it's GeoServer to be synchronized with the dev env. To do this I:
I made a github repository (https:/ /github. com/gem/ Sandbox- GeoServer) in /usr/local/src/ called Sandbox-geoserver
I moved a copy of the geoserver directory to: /var/lib/ tomcat6/ webapps/ geoserver- backup
I moved the Geoserver directory /var/lib/ tomcat6/ webapps/ geoserver to /usr/local/ src/Sandbox- geoserver/ geoserver with: tar cf - geoserver | tar xvf - -C /usr/local/ src/Sandbox- GeoServer/ preserving all the user permissions
I made a symlink from /usr/local/ src/Sandbox- geoserver/ geoserver to /var/lib/ tomcat6/ webapps/ with: ln -s /usr/local/ src/Sandbox- GeoServer/ geoserver/ geoserver
Now all other dev environments can do the above, and make reference to the geoserver repo and then when applications need to be synchronized to the production server, the geoserver settings and configurations will be integrated 'easily'
