Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpowersave

ubuntu feisty (latest updates)

kpowersave --version:
Qt: 3.3.8
KDE: 3.5.6
KPowersave: 0.7.2 (unstable)

kpowersave suspends to ram after resuming from hibernate if you have set kpowersave
to automatically suspend to ram after certain number of mintues.

1. "Enable Autosuspend" in the "Autosuspend" configuration dialog.
2. Set the suspend time to "Suspend to RAM" and set time limit to "10min"
3. Apply and OK
4. Now "Suspend to Disk" the computer from kpowersave manually
5. Wait 15 minutes and turn on computer.

At this point computer resumes properly and screensaver password dialog. Within a few seconds
the computer then suspends to ram.

I can't confirm or reproduce the behavior you described above. Could you maybe compile KPowersave with --enable-debug-msg, intall on your system, start from konsole and try to reproduce and provide the output from konsole since you called the suspend to disk?

attached is the output of the file.

instead of "autosuspend" after 10 mins , i have used 2 mins, shouldn't make a difference hopefully.

I had this problem when I had guidance-power-manager or kde-guidance-powermanager installed, clicking on Suspend to RAM worked, but suspending with the power button gave that result. It was a little different though, it would go to sleep, wake, go to sleep, wake, go to sleep, and then finally be awake. My guess was that several managers were sending it to sleep in different ways or without locking (see pm-suspend ?)

I deinstalled all the guidance packages and now it works fine, but the screen doesn't lock... see https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/283315

KPowersave has been removed from distribution in both Ubuntu and Debian since:
- The package no longer builds, leaving us with no way to provide further updates
- Its author(s) no longer update KPowersave
- Its functionality is largely replaced in KDE4 by PowerDevil.

Unfortunately this means we will not be able to provide further bugfixes or updates to this package. Thanks for understanding.
