I can confirm this bug. In fact, every costumized shortcuts don't work at all at my ubuntu feisty. The default shortcuts work properly, too.

Ubuntu Feisty;
Gnome, Amarok;
everything up-to-date (on 03.21)

resetting the global shortcuts to default, closing the configuration menu, then going back in and setting them to whatever the custom combinations was seems to fix the problem.

You're right, it helped... but I still have a problem with my keyboard's speicial keys. Amarok noticed the XF86AudioPause in the settings, but it still doesn't work.

My keyboard special keys are detected by amarok but haven't worked since 6.04. Mind you, they didn't work with WMP in XP either so I don't bother using them. Every time update a package the shortcuts seem to need resetting regardless of whether amarok was updated.

Resetting shortcuts didn't help for multimedia special keys in Ubuntu 7.04. Seems confusing.

My media buttons are detected in the Global Shortcuts and the mute, volume up, and volume down work for the system. Pause/Play, track buttons, and stop does not work with Amarok. Amarok is the best, and it's awful not having this feature. Hope this gets fixed soon.

I was able to get Play/Pause, Stop, Next and Previous running when I configured the buttons in Global Shortcuts as Alternate shortcuts. With Primary shortcuts, I faced the same problem as described :/

I have the same problem and I tried to follow the suggestions here without success :(

I did however find another solution that works though:
http://lineak.sourceforge.net/

(It's among the packages in the normal Ubuntu feeds b.t.w.)

- Just install the lineakd package
- run the lineakd in a console and follow the instructions given
- Then edit the config-file for lineakd as follows and re-run:

Next = amarok -f
Play|Pause = amarok -t
Previous = amarok -r

It might not be the tidiest solution but at least it will get the job done until this is solved properly.

(This comment related to AmaroK 1.4.3)
